About the city
Isola is a small French town, located in the department of Alpes-Maritimes and the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region. The village is located at the confluence of Tine and Guerche, at 870 meters.
City areas
For a small town Isola has some interesting areas, which really merit a visit. Two of them are more popular, not only with the locals but tourists alike. Place Jean Caissa, the historical center of town, and Tine Path, which follows the course of the Tine river, are the most picturesque areas in town.
Attractions
There are very little things of interest in Isola, other than skiing. The town’s historical heritage consists mostly of chapels and churches, most of them in ruin now. There are a few historical places of worship that haven’t been touched by decay, one of those being St. Anne Chapel.
Transportation
Very close to the Cote d’Azur and to the Mediterranean by extension, the village of Isola and its ski resort, Isola 2000, are situated in quite a privileged location. The village and resort are located 50 km from the E74 and only 90 km from Nice Airport.
Events
Isola is a very eventful town, especially in winter. The town is full of life around the winter holidays and events keep on surprising you with lots of fun activities. The most notable of these is of course Christmas, which in Isola is a very good opportunity to put up a good show.
Restaurnats & Nightlife
Isola is not just a ski resort it is also a party mecca especially after the sun sets. The resort and village although small, light up at night, even more so in the holidays. The dining scene is also quite something to look forward to as well, and will most certainly surprise you in a good way.
History & Civilization
The human implantation in Isola dates back to pre-Roman times. According to sources, its name comes from the Ligurian leudola meaning “grassy slope”, but there is little to nothing known about the language spoken by this population.
Isola 2000
The name of the ski resort states its actual location. It is part of the village of Isola and it is set at an altitude of more than 2000 meters. It is one of the best ski resorts in France and its location is most favorable since its only 90 km from the Cote d’Azur and the Mediterranean.
